Chelan Douglas Asset Building Coalition

CDABC

Chelan-Douglas Community Action has been working on asset building in our community for several years. We joined the Washington Asset Building Building Coalition in 2008. As part of our plan, we will continue to educate the low to medium income population by offering free Money Smart Financial Education classes to local Social Service agencies and Emergency Shelters.

We have increased our free tax sites from one to three in the last two years. This has allowed us to reach more residents in our rural areas and provide them with free tax services.

Vision
Building for the Future coalition will strive to ensure the future of our community by encouraging families to become financially stable and to achieve long term independence.

Goals
We are committed to providing low-income families and individuals with the skill, training and motivation necessary to attain personal and economic self-sufficiency throughout Chelan and Douglas Counties.

We will continue to provide first-time homebuyer education classes sponsored by People's Bank. These classes will include credit repair education, pre-qualifying for a mortgage loan, predatory lending education, legal and general responsibilities associated with homeownership.

We offer MoneySmart Financial Education classes on a quarterly basis or as requested. Our goal is to educate our low-income families or individuals on money management, how to establish a budget, apply for a consumer loan and/or open a checking or savings account.
